Non-Woven Abrasives are three dimensional materials used in the cleaning, finishing and general preparation of surfaces in a wide range of applications. Non-Woven abrasives are combination of abrasive grains bonded to a tough, durable, nylon mesh and a resin bond that binds the other components together.

Benefits of using Non-woven abrasives include:

  • Flexibility - Non-woven abrasives readily conform to any work surface.
  • Consistency - Non-woven abrasives give a consistent performance throughout the life of the product.
  • Non-loading - due to their open structure, Non-woven abrasives resist clogging.
  • Nonmetallic - will not rust or contaminate in any way.
  • Non-Woven Abrasives are primarily used in pads, disc & rolls.

The abrasives used are:

  • Aluminum Oxide - a blocky shaped abrasive that is tough and durable. Non-Woven Abrasives containing Aluminum Oxide are maroon / brown in color, and impart a "Satin" finish. Available in Coarse, Medium, Fine & Very Fine.
  • Silicon Carbide - a sharp, sliver like abrasive grain that has a sharp cutting action. Non-Woven Abrasives containing Silicon Carbide are grey / black in color, and impart a "Bright" finish. Available in Very Fine & Ultra Fine (Pads only).
  • Alumino-Silicate - this man made grain is less aggressive than Aluminum Oxide or Silicon Carbide and used primarily for "Pot Scrubbers". Non-Woven Abrasives containing Alumino-Silicate general purpose pads are green in color.
  • Talc – non-scratch abrasive for light duty cleaning, white in color.

Surface Conditioning Disc

  • Surface Conditioning Disc provide a unique combination of aggressive performance, long life and improved finish. Aluminum Oxide Abrasive with a tough scrim reinforced backing can replace products such as steel wool, wire brushes and conventional coated abrasives to give a consistent repeatable finish. Available in coarse (brown or tan), medium (maroon) and very fine (blue).

Typical applications include:

  • Deburring - Surface Conditioning Disc quickly remove light burrs and minimize gouging and excess stock removal. Operators can achieve consistent, high quality results part after part.
  • Cleaning - Surface Conditioning Disc rapidly remove contamination (rust, or old coatings) without excess stock removal. As the work piece is thoroughly cleaned, excellent adhesion occurs in subsequent manufacturing processes such as welding, coating, painting, etc.
  • Paint & Coating Removal - Surface Conditioning Disc rapidly and thoroughly remove existing paint and coatings. They generate a smooth, uniform surface that provides excellent adhesion for new coatings. Surface Conditioning Disc are an excellent alternative to wire brushes, as they eliminate the hazard of loose flying wires that may cause injury.
  • Grindline Conditioning - Coarse grindlines and milling or sawing marks often leave burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives are quickly removed by Surface Conditioning Disc to leave a smooth, refined surface. They also help reduce the number of steps needed to produce the required finish.

Surface Conditioning Belts

Surface Conditioning Belts provide a unique combination of aggressive performance, long life and improved finish.

  • Deburring - Surface Conditioning belts quickly remove light burrs and minimize gouging and excess stock removal. Operators can achieve consistent, high quality results part after part. Surface Conditioning Belts provide an excellent means to deburr parts that otherwise might be inaccessible.
  • Cleaning - Surface Conditioning Belts rapidly remove contamination (rust, or old coatings) without excess stock removal. As the work piece is cleaned thoroughly excellent adhesion occurs in subsequent manufacturing processes such as welding, coating, painting, etc..
  • Paint & Coating Removal - Surface Conditioning Belts rapidly and thoroughly remove existing paint and coatings. They generate a smooth, uniform surface that provides excellent adhesion for new coatings. Surface Conditioning Belts are an excellent alternative to wire brushes, as they eliminate the hazard of loose flying wires that may cause injury.
